"Remember who you are and what you stand for!" I hated that then and now I use it now. Now my kids hate it. However, I realize more now what they meant.
So I get frustrated if we're not to church (or anywhere for that matter) 20-30 minutes early. FYI mom, Cindy doesn't think that's good :).
Try hard to magnify my callings and take time to help others. Thanks Dad.
I try to get up early, eat breakfast, and read the scriptures. Thanks for doing that with me Mom!
I remember Dad back handing me when after leading him into saying that he wasn't going to wake up early and drive me to early morning seminary when I could just go on my lunch break and I said, "well if it's not that important to you then it's not that important to me." Thanks Dad. I hope my kids don't smart off like that :) LOVE YOU GUYS!
I learned to work hard from both my parents. I didn't realize at the time that Mom had to work outside our home so that Dad could have his dream of owning his own farm and I resented her being gone so much at times. Now, I know that she did that for Dad, I appreciate it more. I also appreciate that they were always willing to help family and neighbors with whatever-I wish I were more like them in that. I always knew that my parents loved the gospel and tried hard to live its principles. I really appreciate that firm foundation in my life. Thanks, Mom and Dad!
I hope my kids grow up with special parent/child moments to remember. I remember mom letting us all pull our mattresses out on the balcony to sleep so we could watch the rain (and not be so hot.) It was probably not the way she wanted to sleep that night. I remember dad flying up to Bellingham to meet me for a job interview. Sometimes, as a parent, I think "that is too tedious or time consuming." I appreciate my parents for those simple, loving moments. I hope to be better at demonstrating how much I love my own boys. I hope when they are grown, they can appreciate the sacrifices that are made for them. Thanks Mom and Dad.
Some of my favorite memories with dad are at my games, I remember him always being there. And with mom it was shopping. I really appreciate that they took time to figure out a way to spend time with an obnoxious teenage girl!
